I chose SDG goal 11.1 and 11.2.

11.1 - Safe and affordable housing

11.2 - Affordable and Sustainable transport systems

Preventing climate change is crucial for the development of sustainable cities and communities, as emphasised in Sustainable Development Goal 11. Sustainable cities are designed to be environmentally friendly, ensuring a sustainable and clean quality of life for all residents. Climate change mitigation efforts, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, recycling waste materials, and promoting renewable energy, directly contribute to this vision and to making a cleaner and more eco-friendly world. These measures help prevent extreme natural disasters, reduce air pollution, and ensure the sustainable use of resources, helping to further fullfil the goals of SDG 11.

Switzerland is a country that is very sustainable and advanced in its commitment towards preventing climate change and is know for having some very urban and sustainable communities and cities. Furthermore, Switzerland's approach to combating climate change includes community-based initiatives and public awareness campaigns that encourage sustainable and eco-friendly living practices among people such as the NCCS. Programs that promote cycling, waste recycling, safe usage of water, and energy conservation are widely adopted and used across Switzerland, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability. The integration of green technologies in urban infrastructure, such as solar panels , also enhance the sustainability of Swiss cities. These efforts contribute significantly to achieving SDG 11 by ensuring that cities are not only working towards combatting climate change but also instrumental to economic growth.
